Tasks & responsibilities

Learn React by building a portfolio from a Next.js course, then make it my own

My first React project: a one-page portfolio that served as ijalfauzi.com in 2024.

Overview

In June 2024 I set out to learn React and its ecosystem. I followed JS Mastery’s video course Build and Deploy an Amazing Developer Portfolio with Next JS and Framer Motion from start to finish, then made the result my own. It ran on Vercel as ijalfauzi.com until I moved the site to WordPress. The screenshots below were recreated in 2026 by running the 2024 source locally.

What I Did

  • Followed the course to build the floating navigation, hero, bento grid with a Three.js globe, project cards, and testimonial strip.
  • Replaced the sample copy, projects, testimonials, and tech stack with my own, and removed sections I did not need.
